Are they essential… NO
Are they accurate… Most likely not..
Are they beneficially… Most definitely YES
“I want to work out and be more active but I don’t have a tracker”.. Sorry I missed your point. just get bloody active!
One massive positive thing about these fitness trackers are they are bringing daily activity levels (steps) into people consciousness. It assists with given a target to hit each day and depending on what sort of person you are will determine what you think of this. Me, I like to beat everyday, so if i did 10,000 on Monday I would want to be doing 11,000 the day after and so on. Now I know that ultimately I will have to say ok enough enough because otherwise it will take over, but until that point I will keep using it to ensure my activity levels stay high!
They are not the be all and end all though. They are not essential to a strength workout or cardio workout. They aren’t going to make you lift more or work harder. They most certainly are not going to jump of your wrist give you a slap to the face or kick to the nuts and say keep going. You got to do that bit yourself…
