PAL and NEAT
In the last post I mentioned the above:
PAL = Physical activity Level
NEAT = Non-exercise activity thermogenesis ( I know right, wtaf) (Will cover this one tomorrow)
So the PAL is something thats used to help with setting up a nutrition plan and calories. (I will state here: all the numbers anyone provides you with including me, our trial and error. Nothing is 100% accurate!)
Every Coach needs to establish a clients baseline to begin with. Now, heres the part where patience is needed. Lets set the scene
You approach a coach and you want to lose weight.
The coach knows he/she needs you to be in a calorie deficit. The problems we have is the following:
- Are you eating enough already
- Are you over eating?
- Are you eating enough to fuel the training you are doing?
- How is the training plan the Coach is about to provide you with going to effect your body
- ….
- You get the picture right tonnes of variables that are all partying at once making our job just an absolute delight to sort out!!
Now the numbers we are provided when it comes to PAL is:
Females range from 12 – 15
Males range from 15 – 21
The lower numbers are considered to place individuals in a calorie deficit, again everyone is different.
So this is why I stick to what I said about its all about establishing a base line and testing and adjusting.
