Blog 30 Strive to Failure

I am a huge believer in failing every single workout.
Potential mind bending concept. Even though you achieve failure don’t deem the workout as a failure!
We need to push our bodies to yes their limits but by attempting to achieve failure every workout it means we are creating a greater scope for progressions and gains.
I don’t mean fail at the start with a 1 RM, I mean every single set you should be grinding the last two, three reps, and in some cases not been able to hit the top end of the reps is a HUGEEEEE positive factor!!
Example time (We all know I love them)
Lets say I have 6 sets Back Squat, 6-8 reps to complete.
I aim to hit 8 reps everytime of course but I know in the back of my mind when i get to set 5 and 6 if I don’t I will be happier than ever.
Set 1 = Hit 8 (Yep I notice it)
Weight increases
Set 2 Hit 8 (Defo felt something)
Weight increases
Set 3 Hit 8 reps but this time its a grind
Weight Increases
Set 4 I hit 7 reps (Whose idea was this!!!)
Weight can increase or can stay the same (Only goes up if you got micro plates!)
Set 5 Hit 6 reps (This last set is gonna suck!)
Weight stays the same!
Set 6 3 reps, bail the bar and lay and watch my legs leave the gym on their own as if to say enough is enough!
The point to all the above though, is that I definitely hit failure and I would be over the moon with it. Theres something to beat next time again, and the next time and the time after that!!
Pusht the limits, don’t aim to be the golden person succeeding all the time and not ever experiencing failure. Purely because the moment you do thats when your mettle is tested.
