Blog 34 I don’t wanna get big though!
This topic has come up a lot in the last couple of weeks for me especially when Im having consults with potential clients. Alongside that, my inbox went nuts with regards to the above statement.
Lets get something straight the legend Arnold Schwarzenegger spent most of his days in the gym and was eating and training constantly. The same with the like of DLB (Dana Bailey) or Eleonora Dobrinina more than that though, they are athletes competing at an incredibly high level!!
So just because I put bicep curls or tricep press down into your programme does not mean you are going to get massive!! Christ I could give you 1000 reps and you still wouldn’t get massive and this will be because of a few factors (performing 1000 reps been the primary one as its quite difficult)
but
1, You are without a shadow of a doubt in a calorie deficit
2, Even if you aren’t in a calorie deficit you won’t be eating the right quantities of certain macros in order to get hugeeeeee
3, Lets not forget genetics in this equation.
I hate to break it to you but you don’t just do 1 set of curls and then get huge either. You may now ask yourself “well why do them at all if i don’t want to get big anyway, can’t we do more of something else?”
NO we cant
In order to develop body parts we need to get the whole body to work and change because otherwise it will only change/grow so much. At the same time more of something else may just over do it for you.
Its like HIIT which has been absolutely murdered these days. HIIT to clarify is not a 45 minutes body destroying session. HIIT/tabata should be 8 rounds of 20 on 10 off, balls to the wall, I’m gonna vomit work.
When I see posts stating “wow that 45 minute hit was intense” i generally want to throw my laptop at them!!
That translates into 5 minutes of degrading quality of exercises performed and the other 40 minutes is just absolute garbage and an injury minefield.
Got an idea for tomorrow post now:
Who wants a HIIT workout!!??
