Blog 38 Yep Im going be on one here. Vanity numbers/Ego lifters.

Vanity numbers today. Over the past few days, whether its on Facebook, insta, twitter and my inbox Ive seen videos of people talking about and attempting 1 RMs.

RANT ALERT

Your 1 RM™s are only of real concern if thats relevant to the goal. If your goal is Fat loss, Muscle TONE™ – Bloody hate that word!! then most likely they are not important in the overall picture. If strength or competing in power lifting is your goal different story.

On a side note the form and technique and execution of the exercises/attempts at the 1 RM have left me cringing. How a disc in their spine hasn’t prolapsed or slipped I have no idea. (Lucky them)

This kinda goes hand in hand with those guys and gals who can shift heavy weight but have injuries and minor niggles all year round. Why not address the niggles and injuries first and then give yourself a better chance at reaching your full potential. You will most likely hit higher numbers in the future

What I would suggest is to ensure that the people with you know what they are doing whether its a friend or a coach. However, I will emphasise if a Coach is doing it with you and your goal is fat loss, then ask why its important to test them.

Keys to Fat Loss:

1, Hard work

2, Consistency with regards to remaining in a sensible calorie deficit

3, Incomplete rest periods

4, Use the big muscle groups, Pairing agonist and antagonist if poss

5, Water

6, SLEEP

P.S Don’t be an idiot and do something stupid
