Blog 50 Body Shamers/Haters
A little bit of a rant here. So one of my pet peeves is another person in the gym putting another down. I understand banter and thats fine, thats normally done within your group and its understood like that. You have to be a very unique personality in order to be able to pull it off with someone you dont know.
But…
I literally draw the line when some random jackass walks up to any client of mine and states “you can’t /won’t be able to squat 80kgs without a belt because your too small” or “you can’t bench that because your a girl!?”
The second one especially really got my fucking back up. What, bro you think just because my client is of the female, she can’t fucking lift!! Hows about you go back to bicep curling in the squat rack or better yet take yourself to a damn bridge and jump off the edge. Bloody idiot.
These comments played bloody havoc with my clients head and in turn caused me more agro than my 5 year old son that time i couldn’t win him some rigged bloody claw machine toy!
I would say 60 per cent of my clients are female, and every single one of them has more true strength than some of the bros i see lifting. Mainly because they have listened and taken on information, followed their programme, looked after themselves correctly, and the biggest one dont have egos!!
Lads, if you fall into this category of thinking like this then you got a serious issue to address before you worry about developing your maximal lifts.
The biggest issue I have with all this lies even deeper though. This argument opens up slightly now. Whether you are a man or woman and if you find yourself about to say something of the above description, stop and bloody think, just how much of an impact your statement is going to make on the individuals psyche and their progress.
To even this up slightly, I am well aware that this happens both ways, also. Guys target guys, guys can target girls, girls can target girls and girls can target guys.
My two pence is pure and simple, in the gym stick to your damn business, do your session, focus on what the fuck your meant to be doing (unless there is a genuine risk of someone injuring themselves).
Start in the morning with the right mentality and just ask yourself “How can I help or make someones life easier today”
Trust me it will set you up in the sense you will be a little bit less of an arse hole or bitch.
