TEMPO explained and how rest intervals reinforce the end goal. That reminds me, goal setting tomorrow!!!
4010 tempo
The first number (4) is the eccentric lowering phase
The second number (0) is informing us whether there is a pause between the eccentric and concentric phase
The third number (1) is the speed in which we are required to return to the start position
The fourth number (0) is the time in which we are required to wait before continuing the reps.
Example: 1
A: Back Squat – 5 sets – 10-12 reps – 4010 tempo – rest (depends on the goal) fat loss needs to be incomplete rest
So any mathematicians in the house?
12 reps at 4010 (5 seconds total)
Is 60 seconds of solid work with with 48 seconds of which the quads are been hammered due to the 4 second eccentric!!
So if you haven’t been using slower eccentrics give them a try for three or four weeks and see if your strength and gains increase!!
